Beginner Balboa class at the Florence location.
Dedicated to those who have never danced Balboa or have never danced in general.
Balboa is a form of Swing dancing that originated in Southern California in the 1920s and 1930s and became very fashionable in the 1940s. It takes its name from the Balboa Peninsula in Newport Beach where it originated, legend says, from the need to dance on the transportation vehicle that took dancers to the peninsula and the famous Balboa Pavilion. The confined space would then give rise to the characteristic small steps and the very closed position between the two dancers. It is a partner dance that relies on the complete connection between the two bodies with many weight changes, often invisible to spectators, with fast and synchronized steps between man and woman.
The proposed class will begin on Thursday, Sept. 22 at 8:30 p.m. at the Firenze Marathon Wellness Gymnasium - Viale Malta 10. (In front of the Dogali club)
The first lesson for this level (BEGINNERS) will be free and free, suitable for those who have never danced Lindy Hop or have never danced in general.
We will give all of you the opportunity to browse and try it out, show you the dance and begin to take your first steps, so you can see if it is to your liking or not. We will also show you the path you will take during the year, should you decide to start.
No special skills or previous dance experience are required; anyone can join.
It is appreciated to show up in pairs, but not essential. In short, if you have friends needing a jolt to be 'kicked off the couch,' let's say this is the right opportunity to do it!
Only requirement to enter the halls: clean replacement shoes, e.g., low-cut canvas sneakers with rubber soles for both leaders and followers, no high heels or leather soles, comfortable clothing, and a great desire to have fun, socialize, experiment, and open up to a new world!
